Firing & Kiln Services

We offer a firing service at Loam. You can fire one item or many with our external firings system or you can book a whole kiln if you need to fire a large amount of pottery at once.

We offer both Bisque and Glaze firing services.

The Bisque firing is suitable for stoneware clay at a temperature of 900°C, please make sure that this temperature is suitable for your clay before you bring your greenware in (we are not responsible for misunderstandings regarding this).

The Glaze-ware firing is 1220°C. Check the label and please make sure that the glaze on your pottery has a glaze range that is suitable to fire at 1220°C, if your glaze runs we will charge €12 to replace the kiln shelf.

To fire individual items at Loam bring your ceramics to Loam.

We calculate the cost of firing fees based on the weight of your pieces . You will be asked to weigh your pottery and fill out these details on a Loam Firing Ticket. Your ceramics will then go in to the next available space in a firing.

Cost of Bisque Firing is €12 per kilo.

Cost of Glaze Firing is €15 per kilo.

Please note there is a €8 minimum.

We ask that you pay firing fees up front when you drop the ceramics off for firing. When your work is fired we will email you to come and collect your work.

Pick-up and drop off times are during our opening hours.

At the moment we have one kiln available for firings at Loam.

We ask that you pay the fees up front to reserve your kiln booking. When your work is fired we will email you to come and collect your work.
